Quark Colour Confinement

Color confinement is the phenomenon where quarks cannot be isolated as individual particles. They are always confined within larger particles (hadrons) like protons, neutrons, or mesons. This happens because of the way the strong force (carried by particles called gluons) behaves. The strong force becomes stronger as quarks are pulled apart, making it impossible to separate them completely.
